I'm showing my Poo-hole and challenge all other Christchurch residents to do the same ;-)

Christchurch residents are being urged to conserve water and to minimise wastewater. We are being asked to not flush the toilets - as water is limited, and the sewers are broken. Much of the waste water is either going into the Avon and Heathcote rivers, or into the lower suburbs. To paraphrase Tom Leherer, what you flush with your poop, they'll drink for lunch in the Avon Loop.

Organic composting toilet - well, okay, a bucket with the seat from the toilet, and a bucket of dirt. And a small spade. Putting a layer of dirt in first, and covering the poo with a layer of dirt makes it easier to clean, and stops the smell - well, most of it.
